What questions do you have after reading this story?
1.I felt upset and worried when they had to leave. Also because they had to give money to the pirate.I also felt relieved because he had bad things when he went to australia and at the end he got to be a school captian.

DeleteThank you for sharing your comment. I had very similar emotions to yourself. It is wonderful that Anh was able to achieve Year 5 class captain when he had struggled so much.
DeleteThe best part was when he got class captain. He was so happy he was crying and he’s mum and dad was so happy the yelled “wippy”.And the worst part was when the pirates stole the gold and riped the baby’s nappy off and a piece of gold fell out.

DeleteAfter I read the story I felt happy, sad and a little bit scared. The best part of the story was when they were rescued by a German cargo ship. The worst part of the story was when they were attacked by pirates. I think Ahn Do wrote the book because he wanted Australia to know how life is as a refugee and how to treat a refugee. I really don’t think that the book helped me at all. My questions are : How does it feel to be a refugee? Or What does Vietnamese food taste like, is it any different to ours?
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting part of your information

DeleteThank you for such a well thought out response Zoe. Those questions are very interesting and I wonder how you could find the answers. I wonder if we would be able to have someone who was a refugee come and visit the class and talk about their life. Would it possible for your family to visit a Vietnamese restaurant so you could taste some Vietnamese food?
DeleteI am wondering why you felt the book didn't help you at all. Could you please tell me more about this.
The best part of the story was when Anh Do got class captain for his class because if I got class captain I would be so proud and happy. The worst part of the story was when the pirate ripped the baby’s nappy and was going to drop the baby in the water because I would be terrified.I think the purpose of the story is so other people understand what refugees have gone through.Questions:What is it like to be a refugee? I wonder what it would feel like to live in a three room house with fourteen other people?
ReplyDeleteThank you Sophie for your thoughtful response to the story. I would have been terrified too if I saw Khoa being dangled over the edge of the boat. I find it hard to imagine living with that many people. I have a three bedroom house but only three people live in my house. Imagine if there was only one toilet to share.
DeleteThis is the best message you wrote sophie it is really amazing
ReplyDeleteThe worst part was when the pirate took the baby and ripped the nappy. Open and held the baby lightly😥
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the Little Refugee. I
ReplyDeletefelt attached and felt the same emotion as Anh Do. When Ahn do started school and nobody wanted to be friends with him. I remembered i went through the exact same issue. The moral of the story was very meanfuling and its true to always have hope.

1.I felt jealous after I read that book
ReplyDelete2.The best part of the story is when the pirate ripped the baby nappies off.
I felt sad and happy after the story because I was attached to what Anh Do felt during the story. The way Anh Do wrote the story made me feel like I was a part of the story and I could relate to school.I mostly felt sad at the war and the pirates.
